Design Soup| Jump-start your metabolism with watermelon

Are you enjoying our weekly Thirsty Thursday DIY infused water segment? Our readers are having fun creating inexpensive, easy, healthy water recipes for the entire family to enjoy! Infused water is a simple way to jump-start your metabolism and help your body run more efficiently.  Drinking plenty of water helps flush toxins from the liver and kidneys.  Adding watermelon, lime and mint to your water will boost flushing those pesky toxins away and help regulate your digestion.


Watermelon, Lime and Mint Infused Water

1 - 2 qt pitcher filtered water

1 watermelon

1 lime

1 handful of mint leaves

Wash and rinse watermelon, lime and mint leaves.  Slice and cube watermelon rind and all (we prefer the seedless variety).  Slice lime into segments.  Add sliced ingredients and mint to filtered water. Chill overnight.  Serve over ice.

You may also enjoy the blended version of this recipe. Slice watermelon into cubes leaving off the rind.  Using a blender or immersion blender, blend water and watermelon until smooth. Pour into a glass, squeeze in a slice of fresh lime and add mint.  Serve over ice.
